Friday’s match between HC Sparta Praha and HC Dynamo Pardubice is postponed
We are deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic event that took place today in the premises of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague. On the eve of the game, which was supposed to be the highlight of the extra league and the climax of the first half of the regular season, an unprecedented tragedy occurred in our city, which has no parallel in our country.
Friday night in the sold-out O2 arena was supposed to be a celebration of hockey and entertainment for thousands of fans. However, at this time, our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims. We can’t imagine that while parents lost their children, grandparents lost their grandsons and granddaughters, friends lost their friends, we are rejoicing in goals scored and points scored.
The atmosphere of the terrible act on Thursday spoiled the expected festive mood of the match between Sparta Prague and Dynamo Pardubice. We are all thinking of the innocent victims of the horrific act and their loved ones.
“With respect and reverence for the victims and survivors of today’s shooting on the grounds of the Faculty of Arts of the UK, we have decided to postpone tomorrow’s Tipsport extraliga matches. Our decision was supported by clubs across the entire competition,” says APK LH director Martin Loukota. We will inform you about the alternative match date as soon as possible.
