The multi-talented Childish Gambino: for the first time and maybe for the last time in Prague’s O2 arena
He turns everything he touches into gold. Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino returns to the concert stage. The four-time winner of the Grammy Award for This Is America returns with a new work after a several-year hiatus from music.
He started his musical comeback this year alongside Tyler The Creator on the main stage of the Coachella festival. He subsequently revealed plans for his two albums this year under the stage name Childish Gambino to Variety. And they are supposed to be the last records as well. The Atavista album was released today and features guest appearances from Ariana Grande and 21 Savage, among others.
He will come to Prague’s O2 arena on November 12, 2024 as part of his The New World Tour. Tickets in the price range of 1890-2290 crowns will be on sale from May 17 at fource.cz and in the Ticketmaster and Ticketportal networks. A day earlier, Fource Friends membership will have access to tickets on the fource.cz website.
A special guest on the tour will be singer and rapper Amaarae, who released the critically acclaimed album Fountain Baby last year.
He started his musical career in 2013 with his debut Because the Internet, and won his first Grammy for the prized recording Redbone from 2017. In the song This Is America, which broke the internet in 2018, he summarizes the history of racism and oppression of African Americans. His hits like Redbone or 3005 collected billions of streams.
At the height of his fame, he decided not to follow through with another big concept project, but instead discreetly posted the unfinished album 3.15.20 on the Internet. – that has now received a revised version and was released under the name Atavista. Little Foot Big Foot’s brand new track is accompanied by a music video directed by regular collaborator Hiro Murai.
The last project that Glover will release as Childish Gambino will be the soundtrack for Bando Storm and the New World. He cites Prince and his accompaniment to Tim Burton’s Batman as his greatest inspiration. It wouldn’t be the first time Glover has combined the film and music worlds. His big summer hit Feels Like Summer was accompanied by the movie Guava Island, where Glover starred alongside Rihanna.
He is behind the Emmy-winning series Atlanta and the horror film Swarm, in which Bille Eilish was also cast. Millions of viewers already liked him in the comedy show Community, broadcast since 2009. In recent years, he played in Star Wars, Spider Man and the series adaptation of Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
